Loom video download guide
Prepare and save supported Loom recordings with vidolet.
Loom support is coming in the next extension update. The Chrome Web Store version 0.3.8 does not include this fix yet.
At a glance
The Loom fix has been tested in the development version. Once the update is released, open the recording, play it and prepare it in vidolet before saving.
Before you start
Free to use. No vidolet account is required.
Install vidolet for ChromeHow to save
Open the Loom recording or shared video page and start playback.
Choose a video and quality
Click the vidolet toolbar icon, choose a detected video and an available quality, then click Download.
Wait until the file is ready
Keep the download tab open. When the status is Ready to save, click Save and choose a file name and location.
To save several ready videos, use Save ready videos and choose a folder once. The files are saved one by one.
If the video is missing or preparation fails
With version 0.3.8, repeated attempts may still fail. Wait for the Loom update before following these steps.
Reload the original video page, start playback and select the video again in vidolet. Keep any required access to the original page.
Support and limits
We verified a public Loom HLS recording at 720p using the updated development version. The MP4 includes video and audio. Private recordings and other qualities were not verified.
Available quality comes from the source video. vidolet does not upscale it.
Only save videos you own or have permission to download. DRM-protected videos, live streams and DASH are not supported.
Checked on November 2, 2026. A successful sample does not guarantee every video on the site.
Questions about this site
Can I use Loom support in the store version now?
The current store version 0.3.8 does not include the Loom fix. We verified a 720p recording with picture and sound in the development version. Support will be available after the next extension update is published.
Can I save password-protected or team-only Loom recordings?
Those recordings have not been verified. The successful test used a public recording. vidolet does not grant access to recordings you cannot open.
Why do I need to wait before saving?
For supported HLS videos, vidolet prepares the file first. Save becomes available when preparation is complete. Keep the download tab open; closing or reloading it can discard the prepared file.
Are subtitles included?
vidolet does not currently offer separate subtitle downloads or add subtitle tracks to the saved video. Subtitle support is not part of this guide.
